Singlet Shopping Bag

27 June, 2007

Made using this pattern and tutorial. Super easy, and can’t wait to make more! I’ll do a few man-friendly patterns for hubby, too.

I have made 4 of these already, using leftover fabric. You need about 1 yard each of main fabric and lining. My bag is about 21″x 20″ . The clerks at the grocery (and the bookstore last night) are amazed when we pull out our own bags. They are strong and hold a lot. Two layers of quilting cotton can be very strong. This is a grocery bag, so have fun with fabric, but go ahead and buy on sale. I will make many of these in the next few months as this year’s “everybody gets some” Christmas gift. My husband has already asked me to make one for a simple gift to be used as a book bag.

What a wonderful site! Found you thru daily blog. I was planning on doing some sewing this weekend. This sweet tote is just the project. Thank you so much for sharing!
