"We’re excited to bring you a new contest for 2008! Chronicle Books and CRAFT Magazine are bringing you a contest for all you Amy Butler fans and sewers around the US world! For a two-month period crafters can submit pictures of their own Amy Butler inspired bag online to the flickr group called ‘Amy Butler Sew Inspiring Contest‘. At the end of the two-month period Amy Butler will pick a top winner and five runners up among the entries.

"The grand prize winner will receive a Janome Memory Craft 6600P Sewing Machine with a retail value of $1999, Amy Butler Fabric, Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern (published by STC), Amy Butler’s In Stitches, and the Sew-It Kit (both published by Chronicle Books).

"The five runner-ups will win a copy of Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern, Amy Butler’s In Stitches, and the Sew-It Kit."

Scion’s Craft my Ride is a car accessory design competition where crafters are to create a unique handmade car accessory for the Scion vehicle with the winner receiving a 2008 Scion XD.

  • create a hand made car accessory (any item used as an embellishment or as a functional enhancement to the vehicle. This can include classic items such as a key chain, car cover, seat cover, floor mat, steering wheel cover, drink holder, or any other idea that pops into your head. Get creative.)
  • upload a photo of your accessory
  • upload a description of your accessory
  • selected finalists will mail in their accessory


  • grand prize: 2008 scion xd

Shoe Design Competition – Victoria and Albert Museum

Shoes… there are so many styles. Some are practical, some are for special occasions, and some are works of art. Now is your chance to design your perfect pair, and enter a competition to be judged by a panel of designers including the internationally renowned shoe designer Professor Jimmy Choo OBE. The winners will have their design shown here on the [Victoria and Albert] website.

What you need to submit:

A single jpeg image that should include:

  1. One drawing of your design giving a side view of your shoe.
  2. A list of materials that would be used to make the shoe, stating which materials would be used for each part of the shoe.
  3. Two small drawings of specific details of your shoe. Choose the details that you think make your shoe design unique.
  4. Send an accompanying email detailing your name, age (if under 18 years old), and a contact number. Do not put this information on the jpeg image.
There are four age categories:

11 – 13 year olds
14 – 15 year olds
16 – 18 year olds
